Precision Practice Management Case Study
Cardiovascular Consultants

Dr. Krikorian's cardiology practice had been running for a long time on a legacy practice management software system, with a third party medical billing company providing those services. He wanted to "go electronic" and selected Precision's Encite Clinical Manager software, with the plan being to integrate Encite Clinical with his legacy practice management software. So Precision's software programmers commenced working on an HL-7 interface between the systems. In January of 2007, Dr. Krikorian's practice went live on ECM and very quickly incorporated the new, integrated system into their daily workflow.

Dr. Krikorian practiced out of three offices, two in small towns with limited internet access. Precision addressed the internet issue, supplementing DSL links where available with Wi-Fi internet access at remote locations and upgrading outdated equipment as necessary across the branch office network. The end result was that Dr. Krikorian was fully connected wherever he saw patients, which was a big step forward for him.

"I knew it was important for me to move to electronic medical records." said Dr. Krikorian. "I had looked at many systems but Precision's Encite system was the first EHR software that had all the features I was looking for and seemed fully customizable to my practice. In addition, Encite had a reasonable price point and financing options. I was amazed at how quickly Precision was able to adapt the system to my needs. The software was quickly set up by Precision to support my workflow. I was up and running in no time at all." With the additional network hardware installed with the ECM system, Dr. Krikorian also engaged Precision to take over all computer hardware support and maintenance. "The hardware, network and software all tied together, and I liked the idea of having only Precision responsible for it all" said Dr. Krikorian. "If something goes wrong electronically, I know who to call."

Eighteen months later, with more exposure to Precision's capabilities, Dr. Krikorian reviewed his practice management software and compared it to EBM. And he compared Precision's billing services to what he was getting from his existing billing company. "I could see the opportunity for great improvement by integrating all my software support and billing services through Precision" said Dr. Krikorian. "There are so many processes and procedures that make up what happens each day in my practice - it was clear that many billing inefficiencies could be eliminated by coordinating everything through Precision." The conversion to EBM allowed for an expanded interface into ECM (compared to the legacy system) and ECM's electronic superbill now downloaded into EBM for charge processing - a tremendous advantage. "All the parts came together very well" said Dr. Krikorian. "And Precision's medical billing efforts have gotten us significantly higher returns. They devote a lot of resources to working denied claims and getting them paid. That means a lot to us. I especially like the ARI reporting that I get each month that lets me know the cause of my denials. All denials are reviewed and we go over results together, Precision always gives me some new ideas - things for us to work on to continue increasing reimbursement and practice efficiency - that way of teaming up to run the business side of my practice is really making a big difference."
