Precision Practice Management Case Study
ENT Associates
Way back in 2003, ENT Associates was looking for some help with their newly purchased Medical Manager Software system. The practice needed help with formatting that software, obtaining some custom reports, and did not want to use Medical Manager's claims clearinghouse (but did not know how to switch to another clearinghouse). On top of all that, one of ENT's medical billing staff was going on maternity leave and the practice was going to be shorthanded in the billing department. "Precision was contracted to provide our practice Medical Manager software support and some temporary medical billing services as well" said Dr. Alan Wild. "They stepped in and really helped us at a time when we needed it. They really did a great job for us".
By late 2004, ENT was ready to take another important step forward. "We knew that Precision had gone paperless in their billing office, and we wanted to do the same." said Dr. Norman Druck. "We were ahead of our time in a way - most practices did not make that jump as early as we did. Precision installed a document management system that was the predecessor to Encite Clinical Manager. We were the first practice in our area to completely eliminate paper patient charts in favor of electronic records." said Dr. Druck.
In early 2005, Precision incorporated its ARI denial management software into ENT's billing operations, along with an upgraded and enhanced patient statement processing. Precision was engaged to make outbound AR calls to insurance carriers where neither payment nor denial was received within 45 days DOS. Precision was effectively teamed up with ENT's billing staff, giving them some additional resources that they otherwise would not have. That worked out very well for ENT.
Later in 2005, Precision was challenged to manage all of ENT's hardware and network support across all of ENT's five offices. A domain controller was added to the system and the telephone system was integrated with a Fax server. All wireless access was also upgraded - all told the quality and reliability of the ENT practice's infrastructure was greatly enhanced. "With the network upgrade, we made the move to Encite Clinical Manager" said Dr. Wild. "We were now on the way to being fully electronic. Precision worked with us on ENT-specific screen creation in ECM, customizing the software to follow exactly how we practice medicine. It has been tremendous," said Dr. Richard Maack. "Precision even converted my library of patient photos down into ECM. I had thousands of images in my old system and now they are all on Encite with the rest of my patients' charting information. Everything I do is fully integrated into ECM."
In early 2008, after Dragon version 9 came out, ENT made the next and latest advancement by incorporating Dragon's voice recognition capabilities into the practice's customized Encite screens. "It has been a nice jump forward for us" said Dr. David Dahm. "Now I have available to me a system that gives me complete flexibility in documenting my patient visit. I combine dictation and templated screen entry as appropriate - this allows me to complete my note accurately and completely - in less time than before. That is a tremendous advantage. Combine that with patient flow tracking, prescription writing, surgery chit, pre-cert screen workflow and phone messaging, Encite is a very powerful system." said Dr. Dahm.
